BERLIN-BAGHDAD EXPRESS BY SEAN MCMEEKIN
'The Great Game' is one of my favorite historic subjects I enjoy studying. The beginning of the 20th century was a decisive moment from the shaping of the modern Middle East. The historic importance and significance of 'The Great Game' is indisputable. 'Berlin-Baghdad Express: The Ottoman Empire and Germany's Bid for World Power' by Sean McMeekin is one of the best books I have read on this topic.
During the first world war, Germany and Great Britain were the two most powerful empires. Germany was Great Britain's strongest competitor. Whilst the majority of Muslim lands such as Egypt, Syria, Maghrib, Gulf countries, and a lot of lands on the African continent, Germany tried to get into an alliance with the Ottoman to oppose Britain and its allies. 'Berlin-Baghdad Express: The Ottoman Empire and Germany's Bid for The World Power' describes and explains all the political activities carried out by both sides. This is a very detailed book packed with tons of historic information.
I have read several books covering the events of the beginning and middle of the 20th century. 'Berlin-Baghdad Express: The Ottoman Empire and Germany's Bid for the World Power' by Sean McMeekin is the most detailed and informative book on this book. There are tons of information and data in this great historic masterpiece. I learned a lot of new things while reading this book. Due to the overload of information given in the book, sometimes, I felt somehow bored.
