DAVID AND GOLIATH BY MALCOLM GLADWELL
We think we are logical, adequate, and rational. But often, our vision is distorted by various biases, illusions, misconceptions, and stereotypes. I call this phenomenon 'mental illusions'. This theme is deeply analyzed and studied in a famous book 'David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants' by Malcolm Gladwell.
Another international bestseller by Malcolm Gladwell teaches us to look at the world from different perspectives of views. Sometimes, our weaknesses become our major forces. Oppositely, something that obviously seems to be our major advantage becomes the main reason of our defeat and failure. The book starts with the Biblical story of David and Goliath. You all know that in that battle, despite the big disadvantage in strength and size, a young boy named David defeats a gigantic hero-warrior Goliath. Malcolm Gladwell examines and analyzes the battle between David and Goliath, and makes a conclusion that David's disadvantage turned to be his main strength. On the other hand, Goliath's huge mass and size become the main reason for his defeat. In 'David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants', Malcolm Gladwell combines elements of psychology, philosophy, politics, business, and captivating storytelling to reveal the main idea of the book.
As all book written by Malcolm Gladwell, this work is also awesome. I loved the book for several reasons. This works shifts your worldview, thinking, and improves your analytical skills.
