MARIE ANTOINETTE’S WATCH BY JOHN BIGGS
Usually, the term 'hidden gem' is used for products such as fragrances, watches, and other accessories. This word is rarely used while mentioning books. Believe me, there are a lot of hidden gems among books. These books are not bestsellers, nor are they very popular. People don't even know about their existence. One of these true 'hidden gem' books is 'Marie Antoinette's Watch: Adultery, Larceny & Perpetual Motion by John Biggs.
John Biggs is a New-York based author who writes books on a variety of different topics. His writings have been featured in the New York Times, Gizmodo, Men's Health, Popular Science, The Stir, and many other popular media resources. The author is a very versatile writer who apart from non-fiction books, also writes fiction series.
'Marie Antoinette's Watch: Adultery, Larceny & Perpetual Motion' is a very unique book. I call it unique because it narrates a lot of different things in great detail. First, this book tells a story about the world's most expensive watch – Marie Antoinette's watch 'the 160' made by Abraham-Louis Breguet. History of horology is in this book too. The history of Breguet watch house is also well-described in this brilliant world. 'Marie Antoinette's Watch' is also a book about history since it tells readers about the time of Marie Antoinette, her personal life, and fate. Thus, this book encompasses a lot of different topics. This work is written in a very simple and readable manner. John combined all the above-mentioned topics and many other themes that I haven't mentioned and narrated the story in a very captivating, exciting, and thrilling style.
This book is one of the best books that I have read in my life. Even though the book is not internationally famous and popular, I am sure this great work deserves more attention. I learned a lot about the history of horology, Breguet watch house, the history of watchmaking in Switzerland, mechanics, and systems used in watchmaking, history of France, Marie Antoinette's life, and finally, I got to know the history and origins of the world's most expensive and desirable watch Marie Antoinette 160 which is now valued at 40$ million.
I highly recommend this book to readers of all reading tastes. Even if you find non-fiction books boring and annoying, this wonderful book is a non-fiction book written in a captivating fiction style. Watch lovers will also appreciate horological information give in the book. If you want to learn something new, and at the same time, be entertained, then, 'Marie Antoinette's Watch: Adultery, Larceny & Perpetual Motion' by John Biggs is one of the best books available on the market nowadays.
